Lets re-open right… COVID 19 and CCAC

We have opened our doors but as you might have imagined a few things have changed. We hope you embrace our new normal to ensure our centre is safe and ready for you all to use. Please take a moment to read through the below if you have not managed to attend our training session and look at the slides at the bottom of the page.

 

Before you arrive.

Check you are feeling ok to attend. If you have any symptoms of COVID 19 please stay at home and come another day. Do not attend if you have been told to isolate for a duration of time or shield.

By attending you agree that you are fit and well and understand the risks associated with attending CCAC and can access a copy of the risk assessment located below.

COVID-19 symptoms are:

A high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)

A new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

When you arrive.

Please scan the QR code with your NHS app.

Sign in for your group using the sign in sheet available at the centre. In the case of a COVID 19 case at the centre we may contact you using the sign in sheet.

If you are the first person on site please use the cleaning products provided to sanitise contact points before you start your session.

While you are with us.

Open windows and doors where possible to ventilate the centre.

Wear a mask when moving around the centre.

When you are sat at a work station you may remove your masks if you wish. Work stations will be positioned at a 1 meter distance back to back or 2 meters facing. If you wish to use equipment please sanitise it before and after use.

Our kitchen facilities have been temporarily put out of action - feel free to bring your own refreshments.

 

Risk assessment

CCAC COVID-19 Risk Assessment 

Hazards: 

Coronavirus (COVID-19) 

Who might be affected: 

All visitors, members and group leaders, contractors, cleaners could contract the virus and fall ill. Special consideration needs to be given to vulnerable groups with the classification extended to those with the most serious underlying health conditions as defined by PHE. 

Control Measures 

  • Enhanced hand wash routines implemented with reminders via posters. 

  • Controls to manage visitor build up are in place in order to maintain social distance. 

  • Occupancy of max groups of 6 or under and advise on social distancing. 

  • Limit number of entrances in use in order to aid flow management of occupancy numbers. 

  • Masks to be worn at all times unless the user has confirmed underlying health conditions or seated at a work station with 2 meter distance mitigation facing or 1 meter back to back.

  • Ventilation where possible windows and doors should remain open, to increase airflow and reduce hand contact points.

  • Surface sanitiser is effective against enveloped viruses. Compliant with BS EN 1276 (removal of bacteria) and BS EN 14476 (elimination of enveloped viruses). 

  • Hand sanitiser to be made available at key locations including the entrance and exit, toilets, sinks, Kiln and entrance to second floor. Hand sanitiser conforms to BS EN 1500 (chemical disinfectants and antiseptics) and BS EN 12054 (bactericidal efficacy) and has been proven effective against enveloped viruses. 

  • Hygiene, social distancing and directional signage notices prominently displayed for CCAC users.

  • Sanitising of contact/touch points, as designated in the floor plan attached. This should be completed at the start of any class. This will reduce the risk of viral transmission via surface contact. 

  • Tables and work stations are to be spaced out with 2 meter distance to facilitate social distancing and must not be moved. 

  • Potters wheels must be sanitised before and after use using Surface sanitiser as above. 

  • Staggered entry to include one person entering or on the stairs at any one time. 

  • Kiln loaders must wash hands following the hand washing guidelines. 

  • Glaze buckets and Easels must be sanitised after use. 

  • Personal equipment should not be shared. 

  • Sign in document should be read and agreed to with a signature to confirm all members are fit to attend, will follow centre and government guidelines and understand the risk to those they live with. 

  • By attending the class members confirm they do not have a high temperature of (37.8 degrees Celsius or above) or any other COVID-19 symptoms as designated on the sign in sheet.

  • By signing in members agree to completing cleaning and sanitising before commencing class.

  • Members will be strictly excluded from attendance, based on government guidelines, if they are displaying any symptoms of illness or if they are required to self-isolate or in a tier 2 or 3 zone. 

  • Members are instructed to bring their own overalls and launder at least 60’C or to use a laundry sanitising agent if the fabrics cannot be washed at such a temperature. 

  • All visitors to the art centre will be required to confirm they are in good health and “sign in” to the sign in sheet. 

  • NHS QR code and sign in sheet available for all visitor to log details of their visit to aid the test and trace process. Sign in sheet will be held on site for a minimum of 30 days. 

  • Training: Any members and all member group leaders to be trained on risk mitigation and additional controls introduced to maintain their wellbeing as well as those they come into contact with. 2 x online training sessions will be available to all attendees via Zoom and 1 x face to face session will be available for those unable to attend virtually. If insufficient people from a group have attended training their group will not be able to commence visiting. 

  • Communication channels available for members to ask questions and raise concerns in order to support their concerns whilst attending classes. 

  • Members must not visit the centre outside of organised class times unless specifically required to do so by a committee team member.
